04/01/2021 ADA Title II/Section 504 Coordinaor

Oles, City of Santa Monica

Hi all -- about a year ago, that function was moved to Risk Management.  Due to the pandemic, the issues/requests were minimal, up to this point.  We need a consultant to provide brief training, assist with handling pressing issues, and over time make the function more robust.  Rachel Shaw has assisted us with ADA Title I compliance, but this is outside of her expertise.  Have you utilized one or heard one that provides this service? Thank you.

Hi Jena -- I was not inquirting about employment-related accommodations/interactive process.  HR is administering that piece of ADA compliance after being trained by Rachel Shaw. Risk has become responsible for Title II ADA compliance -- making sure that the disabled inviduals have equal access to City programs, services, buildings, communication, etc. -- everything outside of he employment piece.

Oles, were you only referncing the ADA--personnel process, or were you looking for a vendor who manages the right of way and public access disputes?

I managed it for the City and then transferred it to a Senior Analyst in the City Manager's Office who has since left and now it is in our HR department.  I trained all three on ADA and the interactive process.  CMV does not use an outside vendor.

We have a ADA Coordinator identified in our City Manager's Office.  Here is our webpage, https://www.bakersfieldcity.us/178/Americans-with-Disabilities-Act

If you would like to chat with her, I can provide you her phone number.  Just don't give her any ideas about having this in Risk Management!

She actually developed some training for our organization which was uploaded into Target Solutions so all staff that needed to take training could be assigned training.
